Dr. Volkmar is an Affiliate Consultant at Accumyn Consulting and a postdoctoral fellow in energy transitions with the Center for Energy Studies at the Bake Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. His research focuses on crude oil pricing and behavior of oligopolies in crude oil markets as well as electricity access. Previously, Mr. Volkmar worked in business intelligence in Washington, D.C., where he advised clients on geopolitical and economic risks.
Prior to receiving his Ph.D. and during the Arab Spring (2011-2013), he was an economics reporter with Business Monthly, a magazine based in Cairo focusing on Egypt’s business and economic environment. He has also worked in microfinance in Egypt, social work in New York City and international arbitration in Manhattan.
Dr. Volkmar is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds a master’s degree in statistics and a Ph.D. in energy economics from Rice University.
